Bougainvillea

Taking pictures of flowers is easy!

But making an image that really stands out is a task in itself.

For this image I used some Kenko extension tubes. This allowed me to focus closer and aided in the background focus to fade so drastically. With this benefit comes consequence. It is difficult to focus on an object and get the desired depth of field. In order to make the white bud appear sharp I took several shots and created a composite from another frame where the pedals of the bud were in sharper focus.

I think I got the best of both worlds.

Warm & Cold

After taking the picture I think I should have reduced the contrast and saturation in the metal to really give it some visual contrast. Everything warmed up when I tried to put more life into the wood grain.

Warm. A side of the cabinet I tried building for my wedding. This was to house the crane art [something I plan on covering in a sequence of blog entries, one day].

Cold. This is actually a right angle that belonged to my mother-in-law’s father. She thought I could use it and now it’s one of the finest tools in my cabinet.
